AFFIF DESCRIPTION

The Adelaide Film Festival, through the Government of South Australia, has established an ongoing fund for equity investment in Australian films, of $500,000 per year.

The Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund is focussed on the support of feature films and feature length documentary projects with short films, animation and new media projects considered from time to time.

Following their recommendation by the Festival Director, certain projects will be selected by the Adelaide Film Festival Board. All projects which receive investment must have their world premiere screening as part of the 2011 Adelaide Film Festival program.

The Adelaide Film Festival is looking to support projects with creative, cultural and economic bonafides.

CREATIVE: Projects must display bold and innovative story telling, a striking use of screen language and a strong creative team.

CULTURAL: Projects must demonstrate the short and long term benefits for the SA film industry and broader community - e.g. creative and development opportunities for individuals and organisations, branding opportunities, partnerships with national and international organisations and events and the ability of the project to raise the profile of South Australia.

ECONOMIC: Projects must demonstrate measurable economic development outcomes for South Australia, such: as direct and indirect expenditure in South Australia; employment of local cast, crew and businesses and the potential for direct financial return from the equity investment.

Projects must:

  • Be an Australian film, video or cross platform project
  • Be at an advanced stage of development, and if a feature length project with recognised market attachments and financing to be complete by 31 December 2009
  • Agree to world premiere at the 2011 Adelaide Film Festival

Projects will be given preference if they:

  • Are produced and/ or post produced in South Australia
  • Use South Australian key creatives, crew, cast and facilities where possible and appropriate
  • Demonstrate a net economic benefit to South Australia

There is no deadline for applications, however feature length projects [narrative] must be fully financed no later than December 2009, be able to be previewed by AFF for programming purposes no later than 26 November 2010, and final delivery to the AFF by 30 January 2011. Initial enquiries should be directed to the Festival Director via email info@adelaidefilmfestival.org or by phone: 08 8271 1029.
