AFF’s opening night film The Correspondent tells the true story of Peter Greste’s imprisonment in Egypt in 2013. Hear Greste in conversation with the film’s director Kriv Stenders (Red Dog, Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan), actors Richard Roxburgh and Julian Maroun and the film’s producer and former journalist Carmel Travers – moderated by award-winning journalist Hamish MacDonald.
While taking you behind the scenes on the making of the film; and expanding on Greste’s own life-changing experiences in Cairo, the panel will also explore and explain the very real and constant threat facing journalists around the world in their pursuit of the truth, in the face of rapidly shifting power dynamics.
