Since 2003, Adelaide Film Festival has been bringing people together through the power of film. Showcasing courageous storytelling from around the world through the medium of feature films, documentaries, short films, virtual reality projects, and moving image art commissions. AFF is also committed to supporting and cultivating a thriving South Australian screen industry, backing local filmmakers from pre-production to screening.
The programming of these screen experiences, unfortunately does not come with the budget of a Hollywood blockbuster; hence we rely on the support of generous donors and partners to enable us to continue to create life-changing moments for audiences and support future filmmakers.
Through the Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund (AFFIF), we’re also supporting Australian films from pitch to premiere.
AFFIF provides equity investment in Australian screen productions, launches careers, and profiles local stories in an international context, and has premiered and seeded over 150 projects including, Talk To Me (Danny and Michael Philippou, 2022), Hotel Mumbai (Anthony Maras, 2018), 52 Tuesdays (Sophie Hyde, 2013), Snowtown (Justin Kurzel, 2011), Samson and Delilah (Warwick Thornton, 2009), and many more acclaimed films and moving image works.
All donations, of any size, help us showcase South Australia as a creative centre of independent filmmaking and support the next generation of storytellers.
Your support also helps:
Get initiatives like Shorts in Cinema, Film Lab: New Voices and the Pride Foundation Australia Short Film Initiative off the ground – directly funding and programming emerging filmmakers
Bring international films to local screens, shining a light on courageous storytelling and supporting local cinemas and vendors
Program the films you want to see that otherwise wouldn’t get a South Australian screening, such as the cult film I Saw the TV Glow (2024), Feature Documentary Award-winner Simon and Marianne (2024) and AFF Investment Fund film The Speedway Murders (2023)
Inspire and create opportunities for creatives of the future through our AFF Youth program
Bring international and national filmmaking guests to Adelaide, promoting lively debates and insightful discussions through our talks program and film Q&As
Adelaide Film Festival is a registered deductible gift recipient (DGR) entity, and every donation over $2 is tax-deductible. Take the starring role in AFF’s story and donate today.
